1. Spray a large non-stick frying pan with oil and place over medium heat. Add onion, carrot and garlic and cook, stirring, for 5 minutes or until onion is soft.
2. Add mince to pan and cook for 5 minutes or until browned, breaking up clumps with a wooden spoon.
3. Stir in tomatoes and season with salt and pepper. Add chilli powder and basil and bring to the boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes to allow flavours to blend and sauce to thicken. Spoon sauce over hot spaghetti and serve.

If you can't buy wholemeal pasta or prefer ordinary pasta, use it instead. The sauce is just as delicious either way. Any leftover sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days and actually improves in flavour with time. It is also suitable to freeze for up to 3 months.
